Spike TV, of all places, has removed an unbelievably tame joke by legendary man’s man Clint Eastwood from the network’s upcoming “The Guys’ Choice TV Awards,” taped over the weekend in Culver City, Cal. The comment, which Spike TV Senior VP of Communications David Schwarz said will not be a part of the program when it airs a week from Saturday, made a passing reference to the “transformation” recently undertaken by the former Bruce Jenner (http://bit.ly/1Iqb3bl).
So, what did Eastwood say that was so inappropriate for an award show described in press materials as “unfiltered, unpredictable”? Here’s the offending comment. Be sure to get the kids out of the room if you plan to read this out loud:
In presenting an award to actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Eastwood compared Johnson, a former wrestler, to other athletes-turned-actors:
“like Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…”
Stay edgy, Spike . . . stay edgy.
